TMS has a team of physicians each board-certified in Clinical Pathology and subspecialty-certified in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. Additional board certifications held within the group are Anatomic Pathology, Hematopathology and Forensic Pathology. Each TMS MD has extensive experience in the full scope of blood banking and transfusion medicine practice. We are committed to providing round-the-clock service to our hospital partners and always have an on-call physician readily available by phone to provide 24/7 support if needed.

Richard Gammon,
MD, Medical Director

Dr. Gammon is a subject matter expert in the area of patient blood management. His programs provide hospitals with current evidenced-based transfusion thresholds, management of the transfusion committee and emphasize the importance of appropriate transfusions. Dr. Gammon holds Board Certifications in Blood Banking and Transfusion Medicine as well as Clinical Pathology. He is a Medical Director for OneBlood and Transfusion Medicine Specialists and an Assistant Professor of Pathology for the University of Central Florida College Of Medicine and a Clinical Associate Professor of Pathology at NOVA Southeastern University College of Allopathic Medicine.

He is co-chair of the Scientific and Technical Committee and an Education Committee member and PACE Administrator of the South Central Association of Blood Banks. He is a member of the Scientific Medical and Technical, Blood Bulletin, Grant, Employee Training and Development Committees, and Chair of the Journal Club for America’s Blood Centers. Dr. Gammon serves as an assessor, Mentor program, member of the CME Advisory and International Variances, Patient Blood Management Education Committees, bacterial contamination workgroup, European Blood Alliance Working Group and Blood Banks Transfusion Service Standards Program Unit’s chair for AABB and chair of the Transfusion Medicine/Patient Blood Management Working Group. He is a manuscript reviewer for the journals Transfusion, Transfusion and Apheresis Science and Associate Editor in Immunohematology for Lab Medicine and serves as a peer reviewer for UpToDate.

Buff Mair,
MD, Medical Director

Dr. Mair is a subject matter expert in compatibility services and transfusion policy, as well as centralized transfusion services. As such, she is responsible for developing component therapy policies, testing algorithms, protocols for Massive Transfusion, transfusion reaction investigations, and specialty protocols for specific patient populations such as neonates, pediatric patients, transplant recipients, and persons with hemolytic processes and hemoglobinopathies. Dr. Mair is board-certified in Clinical Pathology and Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. She has served on the College of American Pathologists’ Transfusion Medicine Resource Committee and has over 20 years’ experience in blood banking.

Marisa Saint Martin,
MD, ACC, Medical Director

Dr. Marisa Saint Martin is a pathologist with board certifications in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, and Transfusion Medicine and Blood Banking. She is currently a Medical Director for OneBlood in Jacksonville, FL, and holds an Academic Affiliate appointment with Loyola University in Chicago, IL.

She served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology at Loyola University Medical Center. Her leadership experience is highlighted by her roles as Associate Director of the Blood Bank and Apheresis Services of Loyola Medicine, and as the Associate program Director of Residency Program. She was also appointed as the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Medical Director of Trinity Gottlieb Memorial Hospital. Dr. Saint Martin worked in a community-based pathology practice (Adventist Health System, Midwest Region) as Medical Director of the Transfusion and Apheresis Services, and Blood Center for the 16 years prior to the commencement of her academic role.

Dr. Saint Martin is a Certified Life Career, and Executive Coach, with ample experience in the subjects of Resilience, Burnout, and Wellness. In this role she Chaired hospitals multidisciplinary Wellness Committees, developed and established an ACGME compliant wellness curriculum for the Residency Program, and provides coaching services for several individuals. Dr. Saint Martin has been invited to several meetings at the local, national, and international levels. She is also a Certified Meditation and Mindfulness Teacher. In 2019 she won the prestigious Roger Schenke Award from the American Association for Physician Leadership, and she became the Medical Education 2019 Robert T. Wong Lectureship Award Recipient from the University of Hawaii Medical School – John A. Burns School of Medicine.
